PPOC-BC Salon 2014

These are my entries for the PPOC-BC Salon 2014: Photography by Kerri-Jo Photography by Kerri-Jo 23_Silk Road Tales 18_Braided The first image, Rail Geometry, was accepted in the Architecture category. The second image, Identity, is a photo transfer onto acrylic and it received a Merit award in the Experimental category. I think it's an interesting conversation to have about what is a photograph, and it was questioned here. The image of the woman in hijab is actually as shot in camera, although it was hypothesized by a judge that it was an airbrushed image using photoshop. I felt it was appropriately placed in the Experimental category. The next one, Silk Road Tales, at the Beijing Opera, was awarded a Merit. I really love this image that I took with the Fuji X100S with the wide angle extension. The final one, White Stallions, received an Excellence award and went on to win the "Best in Class", fine art trophy. In my opinion this image is even more rightly questioned as a photograph as the original image has been entirely painted over. So I'm happy to hang all four images again! However, if I were to enter again I would plan to work within the editorial and press categories and I'll work on getting more art gallery shows for my fine art work.
