Happy Easter!

Emma made us get up to attend a joint Easter Sunrise Service at Garry Point this morning. A bit cold and drizzly but all around we could appreciate the beauty of nature and spring and the flowers seemed to glow in the darkness. It was a peaceful service and a sea lion kept poking his head up every time we sang! I love Easter as it symbolizes resurrection and rebirth and falls at the same time as other religions also celebrating renewal with Passover and Norwuz as we all celebrate the spring equinox together.

And after breakfast we also attended the regular service at Steveston United and we all put a flower on the cross. It was a packed service and as always the music was outstanding with contributions from the extremely talented congregation.

And of course we can't forget the traditions from the pagan festival of Eostre, a great Mother Goddess who was symbolized by a hare. So the Easter Bunny came and left eggs for the traditional egg hunt! The exchange of eggs is also an ancient custom that has been and is still celebrated by many cultures.
