Ashgabat Hotel

The Akhal-Teke horse delegation mostly stayed at the Ashgabat Hotel. It's a nice hotel just above the Stadium and beside Bagt Kosgi (the Wedding Palace). Behind is the new tear drop shaped hotel, the Yulduz. And there is a great view overlooking the city. I went a day early to the conference so I had a chance to walk around and take some photos and also go to the market (next post!). The Asgabat Myhmanhanasy (Ashgabat Hotel): The first image is a composite of three photos so I could get the entire hotel in the shot as from that direction one cannot back up farther. I just did it manually but I am going to find a program! I took it with the X100S with the wide angle extension. The second photograph is a shot of the back of the hotel with my D4 and a 50mm 1.4 lens at sunset.

Night shots of the stadium. The first shot is with the Fuji X100S from the hotel entrance and the second is with the D4 50mm 1.4 at the top of the stairs. (We were lucky as when we were there the state soccer championships were going on and I got to catch a couple games!)

Bagt Kosgi (the Wedding Palace) is an interesting building and can host a dozen weddings at a time. I have lots of shots of this building both in the day and at night! These were all taken with the D4 50mm 1.4. I am going to bring a tripod one time and do some really good architectural shots.

I will upload all the images to the Turkmen Horse Holiday 2014 gallery as I go through them. Once complete I'll set up a portfolio gallery with my selection.
